Pleasure is different from fun
The pleasure is much deeper. Enjoyment is always about using skills and dealing with challenges. Therefore, teaching, writing, farming, cooking, and other activities from the sides of our lives that require skills to face a challenge are called enjoyment.
People who understand the difference include more enjoyment in their lives. They manage to achieve a satisfying and happy psychological state known as “stream”. Upgrading their skills and seeking challenges to test their skills leads to an enjoyable life.
We have heard many stories about people who were very happy when they won a lottery. But their life turns into a nightmare after they get free money; no challenge, no skill, no effort, no sweat. It seems, the lottery here is an answer for all of us for they always associate money with pleasure, that money is not always synonymous with pleasure, but maybe just pleasure. The joy of having money will come and come from working hard to get it, which requires skill and challenge.
Watching TV is usually done for fun and entertainment. That's why few people can remember all the TV shows they watched the past week, for example, even though they watched it 30 hours a week. That's because when we watch television there is no combination of skill and challenge in it.
Compare the pleasure we get from watching TV with what happens when we spend an equal amount of time preparing for a family celebration that our friends and relatives will attend. If we want to remember that again, we will remember all the efforts we have made to make the event a success in our homes, because all these efforts are pleasure and satisfaction in our souls.
So actually, if we want to feel more pleasure in our lives, one thing we must not forget is to try to function other sides of ourselves. With it we can increase self-motivation, and to be more aware of the difference between pleasure and pleasure.[]
